Gregorio Schneider

Founder│ Managing Partner │ Chief Investment Officer


Gregorio Schneider is the Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of TC Latin America Partners. Prior to forming TC Latin America Partners, Mr. Schneider was Managing Director and Head of Emerging Markets at Och-Ziff Capital Management. During his tenure at Och-Ziff, Mr. Schneider was responsible for building the firm’s capabilities, strategic relationships and investment portfolio in Latin America and Eastern Europe. Gregorio led the origination, evaluation and due diligence of investment opportunities in different public and private strategies, including equity, credit, distressed assets and real estate.Prior to joining Och-Ziff, Mr. Schneider was the Portfolio Manager responsible for Emerging Markets special situation investments at The Rohatyn Group. Mr. Schneider also worked at Spinnaker Capital, Credit Agricole Indosuez and the real estate division of Banamex.Gregorio has served on the boards of various Latin American companies and has been recognized by the World Economic Forum for his work with developing countries. He is a member of the Board of Qualitas of Life Foundation, The Provivah Donor Fund and the Columbia University Business School Social Enterprise Program. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) and received his M.B.A. from Columbia University Business School.

Daniel Grunberg

Founder│ Managing Partner


Daniel Grunberg is a Founder and Managing Partner of TC Latin America Partners. Prior to forming TC Latin America Partners, Mr. Grunberg was a member of the Emerging Markets group at Och-Ziff Capital Management, where he helped to manage and structure the firm’s emerging market investments. Prior to joining Och-Ziff, Mr. Grunberg worked alongside Mr. Schneider at The Rohatyn Group, where he structured and executed transactions in Latin America.

Prior to The Rohatyn Group, Mr. Grunberg was General Counsel at Sojitz Corporation of America (formerly Nissho Iwai American Corporation), a global Japanese trading company with offices and operations across Latin America. While at Sojitz, Mr. Grunberg was involved with a private debt and equity portfolio that included real estate assets in Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the U.S., and was also involved in the restructuring and sale of various companies and assets located in the region.

Prior to joining Sojitz, Mr. Grunberg was an Executive Director at Illinova Generating Company (now Dynegy) where he developed power generation projects in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru and Venezuela. Mr. Grunberg was also a Director of Termoflores, a gas-fired power plant in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Mr. Grunberg holds a Law degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Venezuela, a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from Universidad Central de Venezuela, a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, a Master in Law from Fordham University and a Master of Philosophy from New York University.

Francisco Covarrubias

Country Manager – Mexico


Francisco Covarrubias is TC Latin America Partners’ Country Manager for Mexico. He brings over 15 years of financial, operational and legal experience in the US and Latin America. Prior to joining TC Latin America Partners, Mr. Covarrubias worked for more than 7 years at Kimco Realty Corporation, where he was responsible for business development and portfolio management of Kimco’s Latin American division. Before Kimco, Mr. Covarrubias held several business development and financial planning positions at Dell, Inc. Earlier in his career, he worked at the law offices of Ritch, Heather & Mueller, in Mexico City, where he specialized in M&A, private equity, and real estate law.

Mr. Covarrubias holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

Luis A. Santana

Chief Financial Officer


Luis A. Santana is the Chief Financial Officer of the Manager. Mr. Santana has 10 years of experience in private equity accounting and operations.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Santana was a financial controls manager for private equity at Och-Ziff Capital Management Group, where he was responsible for operations and reporting for several private equity funds with AUM in excess of US$2 billion. While at Och-Ziff, Mr. Santana worked on fund accounting, reporting and valuation for a portfolio of over one hundred investments in the real estate, consumer, energy and technology sectors. Mr. Santana was also responsible for the development of processes and procedures around financial controls, treasury management, valuation, reporting and technology. Prior to Och-Ziff, Mr. Santana was a manager in the fund services group at Bank of New York-Mellon, where he helped oversee large hedge fund clients.

Mr. Santana holds a BBA in Finance, with honors, from Baruch College.

Daniel Gáfaro

Project Management Director


Daniel Gáfaro is the Manager’s Project Management Director. Mr. Gáfaro is responsible for site management, budget planning and control, schedule progress, infrastructure and quality control.

During his 11+ years of experience in real estate and construction management, Mr. Gáfaro has managed projects with a total aggregate investment of US$200 million. Mr. Gáfaro has a BS in Civil Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota and is a Certified Project Manager from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Antonio Baez

Vice President


Antonio Baez is a Vice President in the Mexico City office of the Manager. Prior to joining the Manager, Mr. Baez worked for eight years as a relationship and financial manager at Grupo Frisa, a well known industrial and commercial developer in Mexico. He was responsible for commercial, industrial, residential, mixed used and special projects of the company. During his time at Grupo Frisa, Mr. Baez closed over US$450MM in transactions. He was involved in the establishment of several joint ventures with local and international partners, and participated in the development of more than 20 projects representing 13MM+ square feet.

Before Grupo Frisa, Mr. Baez worked for Banamex Citigroup in the investment and business divisions.

Mr. Baez holds an MBA from Universidad del Valle de Mexico and a BS in finance with a specialty in corporate finance from Escuela Bancaria Comercial in Mexico City.

Juan Camilo Castaño

Vice President


Juan Camilo Castaño is a Vice President in the Bogota office of the Manager.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Castaño worked for six years at Estrategias Corporativas, a leading investment bank boutique in Bogota, where he was involved in Mergers and Acquisitions and strategic advisory to companies across various sectors.
Mr. Castaño holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and one in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.

Juliana Soto

Vice President


Juliana Soto is a Vice President at TC Latin America Partners. Her main responsibility is to handle new projects analysis, asset management and due diligence. Prior to joining TC Latin America Partners, Ms. Soto was an investment banking analyst for Santander Investments and Inverlink S.A., a Colombian investment banking boutique firm.

Ms. Soto holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administracion (CESA) in Bogota, Colombia and a Master of Science in Real Estate Finance and Investments from New York University.

Enrique Lay



Enrique Lay is an Associate in TC Latin America Partners. His day-to-day activities in the Fund include project due diligence, financial analysis and asset management. Prior to TC, Enrique was the Chief Financial Planner for Grupo Immobiliario Imagina and Senior Supervisor at KPMG. His areas of expertise include real estate, financial services and industrial markets.

Enrique has a Masters in Corporate Finance from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) and is a Public Accountant from the Universidad Federico Villareal. He has also participated in Project Management and International Finance seminars from the Harvard University Extension School and the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC).

Andrea Paola Custodio



Andrea Paola Custodio is an Investment Analyst at TC Latin America Partners. Her day-to-day activities in the Fund include valuation and financial analysis, project due diligence, and asset management.

Prior to joining TC, Andrea was a Senior Investment Banking Analyst at BBVA. She was part of the mergers and acquisition team, where she worked in buy and sell side advisory transactions.

Andrea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad del Pacifico and has approved the first level of the Chartered financial analyst (CFA) certification.

Luciana Kobashigawa



Luciana Kobashigawa is an investment analyst in the Lima office of the Manager. Mrs. Kobashigawa is responsible for supporting the team in due diligence, project analysis and asset management.

Prior to joining the Manager, Mrs. Kobashigawa was an intern at the securities desk at Scotiabank Peru.

Mrs. Kobashigawa holds a BS in Economics from the Universidad de Lima and holds a certificate in securities trading from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. She also has a Masters in Corporate Finance from the Universidad del Pacífico.

Gonzalo Madrid



Gonzalo Madrid is an Investment Analyst in the Mexico City office for the Manager. He is involved in the day-to-day investment activities of the Fund’s operations in Mexico, including project analysis, due diligence, closings and asset management.

Prior to joining the Manager, Mr. Madrid worked at CBRE Mexico as a Capital Markets Analyst, and prior to that as a Business Analyst at CRECE, a local consulting firm in Mexico City.
